Healthy Lifestyle school sessions

We offer free, friendly and engaging school sessions designed to help pupils understand how everyday choices can support their health and wellbeing. The sessions focus on building positive habits around food, physical activity, sleep, screen time and emotional wellbeing in a way that is practical, age appropriate and easy for children and young people to relate to.

Each session can be tailored to meet the needs of the school, year group or class. The Healthy Futures Knowsley team uses interactive activities, group discussion and simple health messages to encourage pupils to think about their own routines and identify small changes they could make.

The aim is not to tell pupils what they must do, but to support them to feel informed, confident and motivated to make healthier choices at home, in school and within their wider community. Our sessions:

  • Support PSHE, health education, wellbeing and whole-school healthy lifestyle priorities.
  • Encourage simple, achievable actions that pupils can practise every day.
  • Help pupils explore balanced meals, healthier snacks, hydration, active play, sleep routines, screen time and emotional wellbeing.
  • Can be delivered as one-off sessions, themed activities or as part of a wider school health and wellbeing offer.

Sessions are suitable for primary and secondary settings and can be adapted for different learning needs.

They are designed to complement existing school activity and can support wider priorities such as improving attendance, promoting positive mental wellbeing, encouraging active lifestyles and strengthening links with families. Schools can choose topics that best reflect the needs of their pupils, whether this is healthy eating, confidence around trying new foods, understanding energy balance, reducing sedentary time, developing positive routines or knowing where to go for support.
